Approach


  • I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as my primary focus for change and emotional health.
  • CBT is the treatment of choice for many issues, including mood disorders, phobias, panic attacks, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, chronic pain, insomnia, substance abuse and eating disorders.
  • I initially focus on developing a strong therapeutic connection, since without this, positive change is unlikely or difficult.
  • Other techniques and therapeutic models are used to enhance treatment, including mindfulness, emotional-focused therapy, relaxation techniques, compassion-focused therapy and a more general humanistic orientation.
  • My work can be very pragmatic at times to ensure that clients get what they are asking for and what they need.
  • My focus is also very strength-based, emphasizing the skills and abilities clients already bring to therapy and the change process.
